General Helper
Authority:
The Helper derives authority from and is directly responsible to the Owners. The Helper will be under the direct supervision of the Owners, Journeypersons (Licensed Technicians) employed by the Owners.
Hours:
The office is open at 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. The normal work day is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Calls are scheduled as necessary, with the emphasis on normal working hours. As with any service business however, after hours calls and extended work days are common.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The major function of the Helper is to assist any employee in all duties assigned to him/her. The Helper must constantly seek and attain more knowledge in the practical and technical phases of the business. In addition, further knowledge in the entrepreneurship side and operations phases of the business will enable a Helper to broaden and better understand the Company and areas of operations (Apprenticeship, Service Technician, Sales, Service Manager, etc.).
The Helper is directly responsible for the following:
- Perform all work assigned by others who have jurisdiction over your work.
- Perform all work assignments in a safe, neat and professional manner, asking for assistance when needed.
- Assist with the responsibility, care and security of all Company vehicles, tools and materials.
- Be clean and neat in appearance at all times, and on time and ready for work each day.
- Assist others in any way possible, be alert in learning the proper procedures of service, maintenance and installation work.
- Be industrious and keep busy on the job at all times.
- Attend both in-house and outside training seminars and courses to further your education. Attend Industry Association meetings to meet fellow professionals.
- Conduct yourself at all times to reflect a good public image. After all, you are an ambassador for the Company.
- When operating a Company vehicle, you should adhere to the established Company policies.
- Report all accidents of any kind to the office the same day.
- Maintain a clean, neat and tidy shop. A messy shop, truck, or job site is not only unsafe, it is also not productive.
- Be observant, read, understand and respect all Company rules, policies and procedures.
- Keep dissatisfied customers confident in both yourself and the Company's abilities to handle their problems satisfactorily.
- Communicate verbally with customers and be able to address their questions, concerns, etc.
- Maintain a positive mental attitude.
- Common sense.
- Be constantly alert for new business leads.
- Coordinate with the Owners to offer suggestions regarding new ideas (programs, inactive customers, surveys, newsletters, etc.).
- Responsible for the distribution of all marketing materials, equipment brochures, business cards, promotional materials, and placing of equipment stickers with the Company logo and phone numbers on each appliance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and with managed supervision
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Ability to perform in a neat and professional manner
- Good housekeeping
- Strong work ethic
- An interest in continued learning and upgrading of skills and knowledge
